We are programmed from birth to positive or negative modes of thinking. That is the worst harm, IME, that we do to the next generation. We carefully teach them to think in those terms, then we reap the results of the lack of connection.
I totally agree with - its better to know. Knowledge is power on so many levels. Sometimes when it is gossip it is hard to swallow...but we know in the end who is responsible.
Another observation from my current situation...isn't it interesting that what you are being accused of doing, they are the ones with that very problem?
God bless, J

I miss that feature too, Jeff. It encouraged posting in several communities, and I liked that.

Hi Migisi. The feature is also missing within the M & S community.
And made worse when I hold down the 'Shift' key for 7 seconds+ on my new windows XP PC while pondering. The pop up makes no sense to me. End result is my my typing facility is lost so I need to totally log off to fix.
I hope someone from suite101 is reading.
I find the new system a tad weird. I click on "more recent articles' to get the list of OLDER articles to find 'Getting It Wrong'. It shows your response to me at the top of the page with older posts following yours ie out of chronological order. My original post to this topic to which you are replying is nowhere to be found. How that helps anyone trying to follow the thread is beyond me?
'Getting It Wrong' does not make it to the list of discussions at the Mind & Soul homepage nor is it listed when I click on the link to all discussions on that page.
There is no way I'm clicking on all articles in all communities on the offchance a discussion has started or is likely to.
Aaaah! Bring back the heady days of 2000!

Hi pink. Maybe I confused you as all bar one of the problems I experience is contained within the suite101 website. In my post I thought I had isolated the 7 second problem as I know that was not suite101's fault. It's a feature in my new computer that conflicts with my arthritis and indecision. (I hold the key down to start a new sentence with a capital before I've fully thought of the sentence!)
The same feature that Migisi agrees is missing from suite101 generally is also missing from within M & S ie a complete list of all M & S discussions. WHY? According to my access, all discussion originating from an article is NOT listed. You have to seek the article's homepage for onsearching.
For example, this thread, the 'Getting It Right' topic within Personal Ethics is simply NOT listed at the hotlink you provided. If there is something within my computer's settings that will enhance suite101, I'm too unskilled to ever find it.
Authors are putting effort into writing articles without suite101 providing easier ways to access them. Reading a discussion first may better prompt some to read the article and others.
The other problem re missing posts has resolved. I found the first screen for the topic shows a selected number of posts with the newest on the top. That did not show mine hence the confusion. Now, I click on 'List all related discussions' to find the list returning to the chronological order. less of a problem...just extra clicks.
My favourite by default, is the suite101 homepage. If they returned the feature whinged about, I'd use that as it would list ALL discussions from ALL Communities and ALL articles.
I think there is some relevance to 'Getting It Right' in my postings here. I think suite101 could be doing far better based on the facts I've ben able to collect. But, I could be wrong.

Exactly. We need to visit each community to know if there's an ongoing discussion in order to participate. It would encourage more participation if there were links to these on the main page. That was my frustration too. Suite could archive the old (X # of days inactive) discussions on the main page and list the active ones. Maybe in the future, I hope.

C Language? I understand. Software and hardware is designed to support the system not vice versa. "We can give you 10 new features but only if you give us 5 existing ones to delete." The consumer can simply read the dialogue boxes we design.
I posted to 'Technology' the other day. Basically, the "system" is designed to make it difficult++ to instal products online. This inbuilt feature starts up immediately the credit card details are accepted. No cancellation nor corrspondence can be entered into. The credit card company could stop payment but is geared to send the money first then ask for a refund on my behalf.
I see some analogy with the Iraqi war discussions...just can't articulate it.
